Did you know that over 1 million people visit the Washington State Fair each year? The founders of the Fair back in 1900 had no idea the tradition which had begun, nor could they have imagined the success it has become with over 1 million visitors each year!
The Washington State Fair, commonly referred to as the Puyallup Fair, is the largest single attraction held annually in the state of Washington. Ten decades ago, the Puyallup Valley community joined together in an effort to create a “Valley Fair”. The Fair provided a place to exhibit animals of all kinds, and it also became an area to show the show the crops which flourished in the valley’s rich land. Then, as well as now, people came from near and far to visit the Fair. The fair continually ranks in the top ten largest fairs in the United States. Starting in 2013, the fair was officially renamed the Washington State Fair. What started out in 1900 as a 3-day fair has grown into a 21-day event. This year, the Fair will be open September 2-25, and will be closed on Tuesdays.
